Centre for Advanced Education & Training, University of Guelph-Humber

Guelph, Ontario

The University of Guelph-Humber’s Centre for Advanced Education and Training was designed to provide maximum energy efficiency while remaining environmentally conscious and sustainable.

Crossey Engineering supplied the mechanical and electrical system designs for the 170,000 sq. ft. building that includes lecture halls, computer labs,
and multiple classrooms. Utilizing in-floor low level air displacement technology, the mechanical
design strategies also incorporate high efficiency equipment and interactive room motion sensors to control lights and HVAC energy.

A “Living Wall” that features four storeys of floral life, serves as a natural air purification system and substantially reduces the demand for the building to supply fresh, outdoor air.

The approximate budget for this project was set at $40 million.
