Centre for Addiction and Mental Health

Toronto, Ontario

Undergoing a complete redevelopment, the final phase of Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Queen Street site was recently completed. Encompassing twenty-seven acres, the facility is Canada’s largest mental health and teaching hospital, and an international leader in mental health research and addiction.

Crossey Engineering Ltd. provided the electrical design for all three phases of the site’s redevelopment. Included in the new construction are private, home-like rooms for clients, with areas for reflection, exercise and gardens. The design strives to produce a community environment with sidewalks and streets built around new hospitals and office buildings. These link researchers with clinicians, educators, and other health professionals, and increase information transfer. This helps to ensure the best possible care is given to each client.

For Phase 1B of the project, CEL supplied compliance services. This phase included the revitalization of the Intergenerational Wellness Centre, the establishment of the Bell Gateway Building, and the renovation of the Doctors Association Building.
