Mechanical and Electrical Design was provided for this $40,000,000 building. This 170,000 sq.ft. facility includes new lecture rooms, computer technology labs and classrooms. The project is using in-floor low level air displacement technology in the computer technology areas. Design strategies include high efficiency equipment and systems, maximizing use of outdoor air and smart building with interactive room motion sensors to control lights and HVAC energy. Building systems designed ventilation around the central atrium and 4 storey biofilter "Living" plant wall. The biofilter delivers a natural air purification system, which can substantially reduce the need to bring in fresh air by generating clean air indoors and therefore saves a considerable amount of energy. The M&E Construction Costs were $6.9 million. Total Construction Budget: $40 million, Mechanical Budget: $4.9 million. Completion: 2004 Architect: Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc./Rieder Hymmen and Lobban Architects
