This project included the addition of a new long term care facility to an existing building. The new facility occupies approximately 18,000 square meters (190,000 square feet). The first phase of the work was a Master Plan for the site that included removal of the existing boiler plant, and the provision of smaller local boilers to reduce operational costs and allow for site development. Existing building upgrades involved the addition of washrooms and ventilation to meet modern standards. Dehumidification as added to the existing patient wings as well as new controls and services required for general upgrades.The new building was built to modern standards for operations, energy and facility use. Overall Project Budget: $36 Million Crossey Engineering was involved in all aspects of this multi-phased project from master planning, renovation, and design of the new Home for the Aged. Our comprehensive involvement in this project provided a thorough understanding of this type of specialized facility, and the requirements of the Client and the User.
